Dolphins Sign Several Picks Including DeVante Parker: Report

The Dolphins reportedly came to terms with multiple draft picks on Thursday including DeVante Parker

The Miami Dolphins had a busy day when they reportedly signed five draft picks including first-rounder DeVante Parker on Thursday.

Parker was selected 14th overall in the recent NFL draft and could take over as Miami's primary receiver option right away. The exciting WR came out of Louisville and should be a welcome addition for quarterback Ryan Tannehill.

While the team has not officially announced the contract or its terms, the value is reported to be worth $10.9 million over four years. $6.2 million of that is expected to be guaranteed. Its a major commitment for the team, but could end up being a bargain.

Also reportedly signing on Thursday were second-round pick Jordan Phillips, and fifth-round picks Jay Ajayi, Bobby McCain and Cedric Thompson. Signing these contracts comes at a perfect time for the Dolphins as these rookies are set to report to mini-camp on Friday.

Phillips was selected 52nd overall and is a defensive tackle out of Oklahoma. At over six feet tall and over 300 pounds, Phillips is a force. The DT is considered to have a lot of upside and could become a major player during his four-year contract.

Ajayi is a running back who could end up being more valuable than his draft pick number suggests, Picked 149th overall, Ajayi slipped due to concerns over potential knee problems. The young runner is full of talent however and could steal some time away from incumbent third-down back Lamar Miller.

McCain is a corner back who was selected 145th overall and has the potential to make an impact in special teams. McCain should get plenty of opportunities on returns right from the start in Miami.

Thompson comes out of Minnesota and was picked 15t0th overall. The defensive back is an intriguing name. At first, he may not see much of an opportunity with Miami but he has the potential for an increased role.

The Dolphins still have work to do as they look to finalize their roster ahead of the 2015 season.
