Miami Dolphins center Mike Pouncey heard from his bosses Friday after he sent out a tweet alluding to rookie hazing.

“Great pick! I can’t wait for our gifts he’s getting us lol,” Pouncey tweeted after the Dolphins picked Ja’Wuan James out of Tennessee.

For most players nothing might have been said about it. However, rookie hazing was part of the harassment Ted Wells noted Richie Incognito, Pouncey, and John Jerry took part in against former teammate Jonathan Martin.

Martin alleged that he was made to pay large sums of money as part of rookie hazing, including large dinner bills and trips to Las Vegas.

Friday, Dolphins general manager Dennis Hickey said he spoke to Pouncey about the tweet and its implications.

Hickey said that even lighthearted jokes on social media can be taken out of context, and players need to make good choices about what they say.

Pouncey may still face sanctions from the National Football League for his role in the Martin harassment scandal.
