Dolphins to Meet With Arian Foster: Report

Free agent running back Arian Foster will reportedly work out for Miami on Monday

The Miami Dolphins will bring in Arian Foster for a work out on Monday, according to a report from ESPN.

This is the second time this offseason that Foster will meet with Miami and the first time he will work out for the team. The running back is also set to meet with the Detroit Lions later in the week for a work out.

Foster is attmpeting to come back from a ruptured Achilles tendon. The injury was suffered in a game against Miami in October. At the time, Foster had played in four games and averaged only 2.6 yards per carry. The one-time elite back only had one rushing touchdown in his shortened 2015 season.

With the injury and a high guarantee in play, the Houston Texans decided to move on from Foster after the season. Houston has been Foster's only team in his NFL career which dates back to 2009. Foster was undrafted when he signed with the Texans that year.

Despite going undrafted, Foster has had a solid NFL career. the RB has been to the Pro Bowl four times and led the NFL in rushing in 2010. Foster also has led the NFL in rushing touchdowns twice.

The Dolphins currently have Jay Ajayi at the top of their depth chart and are likely looking to improve that spot. After seeing Lamar Miller exit in the off-season, signing with Houston shortly after the opening of free agency this March, Miami finds itself in a precarious position with its running game. Foster could be the answer if he shows that his body is ready for the bulk of the running game.

If Miami and Foster do not end up coming to an agreement, the Dolphins have Kenyan Drake in the mix with Ajayi as well.
