Dwyane Wade Meets 79-Year-Old No. 1 Fan

Glenda Martinez, 79, gets a chance to meet her favorite player, Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade.

Glenda Martinez is a lifelong Miami Heat fan, and a diehard Dwyane Wade supporter. On game days, you will find the 79-year-old grandmother watching her favorite basketball player from the couch with her TV dial locked in on the game.

"I always keep it on the Heat game until it says final, you never know," she said.

Martinez rarely ever misses a minute of the game. Even while she's stuck in the emergency room in a hospital, which is exactly what happened this past Christmas Eve.

Martinez was given a grim diagnosis from doctors after they found a tumor in her brain. She was given two weeks to three months to live.

Family members collaborated with the Miami Heat to fulfill one of her lifelong dreams: to meet Wade. That dream came true Tuesday night, when Martinez greeted the NBA superstar at the AmericanAirlines Arena.

"I love them, they are great, all of them, especially Wade, he's my favorite," she said, before meeting her hero.

"I like so much the way you play, so fast," she told him.

"She knows what she's talking about," Wade told her family.

Martinez told Wade she has a photo of him hanging in her room.

"I love to watch you play, for me, one of the things I enjoy most at my age," she said. "There's not too many things you can enjoy, so you take advantage of what you like."

Martinez was later ushered up to the seats, where she was able to watch Wade play live.

Martinez picked a perfect night to watch the man she calls her sweetheart, as the Heat took down the New Orleans Pelicans 107-88. Wade put on a stellar performance, with 22 points, and 8 assists.

"He's excellent, great, perfect. He's a gentleman, just what I expected," Martinez said.
