A Florida International University football player has been arrested on a battery charge in Broward County.

Shawndarrius Phillips, 21, was arrested Wednesday on a charge of domestic battery by strangulation by police in Pembroke Park, jail records showed.

No other details of the arrest were released. Phillips was being held on $6,000 bond Wednesday, and attorney information wasn't available.
