The Miami Marlins will take their 42-51 record into Cincinnati for three games with the Reds beginning on Friday.

Miami is 1-5 thus far in the second half and has begun the process of trading veterans for prospects. The Marlins shipped David Phelps to Seattle on Thursday and more trades are expected over the next ten days. Miami has fallen out of contention and is now trying to prepare for the future.

A series in Cincinnati often means plenty of runs and Miami's offense has been the team's best asset all season long. Giancarlo Stanton is coming off a series where he hit four home runs in three games and could add to his totals in Cincinnati. Stanton currently leads the National League in home runs with 30 in 2017.

Former Reds starter Dan Straily will miss the series, but Miami's other unofficial ace Jose Urena will make a start. Urena will take the ball in the series opener on Friday and will bring a 3.93 E.R.A with him to the mound. Urena has kept the Marlins in the game, during most of his starts this season. The right-hander is coming off a rough outing against the Los Angeles Dodgers, in which he only lasted three innings.

In the middle game of the series on Saturday, rookie Chris O'Grady will make his third big-league start. O'Grady joined the rotation, when Miami lost Edinson Volquez to the disabled list. In his two starts, O'Grady has tallied a 5.23 E.R.A and has posted a 1-1 record.

Tom Koehler will start for the Marlins in Sunday's series finale and will look to lower his 7.92 E.R.A. Koehler has solid numbers against the Reds' lineup in his career, but he could be tested by the homer-friendly ballpark. Koehler has allowed 12 homers in his 11 starts this year.

The first pitch of Friday's game is scheduled for 7:10 p.m.
