Two days after an easy season opening victory, the Florida Panthers lost 1-0 to the Philadelphia Flyers on Monday.

These two teams battled in Sunrise on Saturday in what was a 7-1 win for the Panthers. This time around, the Flyers were able to quiet Florida's attack. It was another solid game however for Roberto Luongo who had 32 saves.

While stopping 38 of 39 shots fired at him on Saturday, Luongo allowed a first period goal in this loss. After that early score, Luongo settled in to give his team a chance to win. Michal Neuvirth who allowed three goals in the opener was slightly better than Luongo on this day. The Philly goalie sent away all 31 attempts sent his way.

Florida had its chances but could not convert on those. The Panthers had six power plays and went 0-6 on those tries. This was double the amount of advantages that Philadelphia had in the game. The Flyers' lone goal came when it was five-on-five, while they went 0-3 on their power play opportunities.

The Panthers fought until the end as they tried to send the game to overtime. Florida had 13 of its 31 shots on goal come in the third period alone. There were a couple of close calls along the way, but ultimately Neuvirth was able to make stops when his team needed them most.

Steven Kampfer, Dylan Olsen, and Quinton Howden were scratched by Florida for Monday's game.

The Panthers will look to add at least one more point to their total when they take on the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
