We're just days away from Super Bowl XLIV here in Miami, where history could be made. But you don't have to wait until Sunday to own a piece of Super Bowl history.
The NFL, working with a Pennsylvania auction company,is offering a slew of rare and valuable memorablilia for auction.
Items include an early 1970s game-worn Joe Namath Jersey, a 2008 New York Jets jersey worn by Brett Favre, an autographed Bo Jackson poster, a 1972 undefeated Dolphins signed ball and a helmet worn in the 1930s. The items, 300 in all, span all decades and genres and range in price from $100 to $30,000.
The items are on display and can be previewed from Wednesday through Saturday at the NFL Fan Zone on South Beach. The live auction takes place Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Hardrock Cafe in Bayside.
"This is incredible, this is an opportunity to see things that you only get to see once in a lifetime," said self described sports fanatic Jeff Lowe. Lowe, who perused the diaplay cases of sports history earlier today, plans on bidding on Sunday but isn't sure which item he wants most.
Many of the auction items are directly from the NFL, and everything else is guaranteed 100 percent authentic. Some of the proceeds will go toward NFL Charities.
