Gordon Doubles Home Game Winner for Marlins

Dee Gordon's double in the 11th inning plated the winning run for the Marlins on Wednesday

The Miami Marlins walked off with a 4-3 win in 11 innings over the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday at Marlins Park.

Dee Gordon brought home the winning run with a double, and it was the third hit of the day for him. Gordon has a .332 average this season which is the best on the team, and one of the best in all of baseball. The second baseman now has 22 doubles on the year.

Before Gordon's heroics in the 11th inning, he played a role in extending the game in the tenth as well. With the Marlins down by a run in the tenth, Gordon successfully bunted Ichiro Suzuki over to second base. Suzuki would go on to score and tie the game.

Justin Bour continued to show the Marlins that he is a candidate for the regular job at first base in 2016. Bour smashed his 19th home run of the season, and has his average at .260. The slugger has opened eyes with his play, and has been Miami's main source of power as of late.

Adam Conley has been impressive since joining the big league rotation, and that continued in this one. The rookie had a perfect game in the early going, and ended up with six innings of one-run ball. The left-hander struck out eight and walked only one. Conley has a chance to make the starting rotation to begin next season.

Brian Ellington ended up with the win as he pitched the top half of the 11th inning. Ellington contributed a perfect inning to keep the game tied at the time.

The Marlins will turn to Jarred Cosart on Thursday as they look to take the series from Philadelphia.
