Heat Fans Take Top Honors on Forbes List

The Heat have continued to enjoy great support from their fans even after the departure of LeBron James

The Miami Heat have the best fans in the entire NBA according to a list put out on Wednesday by Forbes.

Miami has continued to sell out their home building despite losing the biggest name in the game. Even with LeBron James playing in Cleveland, the home sell-out streak has been extended to 225 games. Fans have also continued to bring a loud playoff atmosphere to several games already this season.

Rounding out the top five behind Miami on the list are the Oklahoma City Thunder, San Antonio Spurs, Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers. James' new fan base in Cleveland is nowhere to be found in the top ten.

While the fans have remained enthusiastic, the news hasn't been as good on the home court for Miami. This year, the team has uncharacteristically struggled in a building they typically dominate in. The Heat have only won seven of their 20 games at home which has given them a losing record overall this season.

In addition to attendance, the report pointed out that Miami is up near the top in terms of selling merchandise. Donning an array of jerseys and accessories, Heat fans can be found both locally and afar.

Despite a popular belief that the "Big Three" era was the start of fan enthusiasm, it actually dates back to the 2004-05 season. As mentioned in the report, the Heat have been in the top 5 in terms of attendance for a decade.

While a fifth straight NBA Finals appearance currently seems unlikely for the Heat, there is every reason to believe that their fans will be going nowhere.
