Heat Reportedly Offer Cole and Andersen in Package for Dragic

The Heat have reportedly made a large offer to the Phoenix Suns that includes Norris Cole

The Miami Heat are trying to make a big move before the trade deadline and have dangled Norris Cole and Chris Andersen, according to the Sun-Sentinel.

The player being targeted by Miami is Goran Dragic of the Phoenix Suns. The 28-year old guard would be a big boost to Miami's lineup and playoff hopes. The cost is high however with Josh McRoberts and two first rounders also in the package that could head to the Suns.

Dragic had requested a trade from Phoenix and the team has thus far been trying to fulfill that request. With Dragic set to become a free-agent after the year, Phoenix would risk losing him with no return. A trade would allow them to stockpile talent and draft picks for years to come.

For Miami, it is a risky move but one that shows the team is committed to a run this season. The Heat currently sit in seventh place in the Eastern Conference but are tied for the final spot as well. Ninth place Brooklyn only is one game back and the Heat could find themselves on the outside looking in shortly.

Miami would be a candidate to sign Dragic and keep him beyond this year. Trading McRoberts as part of the deal would open up some salary room as well for such a move. With such a large package headed to the Suns, it is a gamble on the chance Dragic heads elsewhere next year.

A resolution on this trade and any other deals should come soon as the NBA trade deadline is set for 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Miami will open the second half on Friday against the New York Knicks.
