The Big Three, Pat Riley and Erik Spoelstra made their way down an assembly line, packing razors, eye drops, Slim Jims, and hand sanitizer.
“I need this for my travel pack,” Dwyane Wade said, while LeBron James made quips about moisturizer and “hani-sizer.”
The Miami Heat took some time off the basketball court Tuesday to support America’s soldiers by making care packages for “troops in Afghanistan who don’t get mail from home,” said Judy Smith, the founder of America’s Moms For Soldiers.
She said her group has worked with team president Riley and the Heat for the last three years to hold the care package event.
“For these guys to know that an organization like the Heat appreciates and cares about them is very important for morale,” she said.
Riley said America’s Moms for Soldiers puts together “about a thousand care packages a month that reach the hands of a lot of the soldiers that don’t get these kinds of things.
“And in conjunction with our Home Strong program, we just want to partner up and give our support,” he said.

The Heat’s care packages will actually go out in January, organizers said.
Shane Battier shook several soldiers’ hands, thanking them for their service, and signed a poster, writing, “Thank you for all you do. You’re the reason why America is the greatest!”
Each of the players signed “packed by” slips for their box.
“Packed by LeBron James – signed, sealed and delivered,” the superstar said.
