Heat Trade for UConn PG Shabazz Napier

The Miami Heat went into the 2014 NBA Draft looking to pick University of Connecticut point guard Shabazz Napier. Thanks to a trade with the Charlotte Hornets, the Heat, and LeBron James got their man Thursday night.

LeBron had tweeted previously that Napier was the best player in the draft and on Thursday night he tweeted again that Napier was his favorite player in the draft.

Not surprisingly, with the Heat looking to re-sign James, Heat president Pat Riley went out and made it happen.

The Heat traded the number 26 and 55 pick in 2014 plus a future second-round pick to the Hornets in exchange for Napier.

Napier comes with a championship pedigree. He won two national championships at UConn and was named the most outstanding player in the 2014 Final Four after leading the Huskies to a national championship.

The Heat now have Napier and last year’s backup point guard Norris Cole in house and ready to join LeBron James should he re-sign with Miami.
