Kobe: I'd Beat LeBron in My Sleep, Easy

Kobe disses LeBron in London

Trash talk is a part of basketball as much as the pick and roll and sneakers.

But some of the targets on the Miami Heat stars' backs seem to be as big as a giant-sized peach basket these days. Even the most refined and media savvy superstars aren't hesitating to get in some shots.

Kobe Disses LeBron

The L.A. Lakers' Kobe Bryant is the latest to join the Heat bash session and this time he had some pretty direct comments for LeBron James.

When asked who would win in a one-on-one, the five time NBA champion didn't even let the journalist finish his question before answering.

"I'd win...That's easy for me," Bryant said in London on a YouTube video posted this weekend. "I'd do that in my sleep."

Whoa, big fella. Calling out players like Raja Bell is one thing, but challenging the league's MVP and dismissing him like a practice squad player is a total other animal.

Smug as it might sound, Kobe might actually be right. It would be hard to argue with all the titles and trophies on his shelf. Bryant is considered the most prolific scorer in the game and he can make pretty much any shot on the court.

But what is shocking is how Bryant answered, not so much his answer.

Usually superstars stay away from one-on-one talk and things like that as part of some unwritten code of respect for another's skills. It probably wasn't the first time Kobe was asked the question, so why answer it so audaciously this time?

When it comes to the Miami Heat, the gloves appear to be off for everyone, retired players, current superstars and even head coaches and team owners.

The one thing Kobe lacks that the other critics have, is protection. The Lakers will have to get on the court twice with LeBron and if James does take exception to the "in his sleep" comment, then Kobe might get what he wishes for.

Better hope that sleep doesn't turn into a nightmare, champ.
