Late Field Goal Gives Dolphins Win Over Jets

The Dolphins picked up a much needed win on Monday after a field goal with 1:57 left

The Miami Dolphins came into MetLife Stadium needing a win and they got it with their 16-13 win over the New York Jets.

The win improved Miami to 7-5 on the year which moves it into a six-way tie for the sixth and final playoff spot in the AFC. The other teams in the mix are the Kansas City Chiefs Buffalo Bills, Baltimore Ravens, Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns. Of those teams, the Dolphins only have a game with the Ravens remaining.

Things looked bleak for Miami when the Jets scored the first ten points of the game. A touchdown early in the fourth quarter however tied the game up. That set up the Dolphins for their game-winning drive that culminated in a field goal by Caleb Sturgis with 1:57 left to play.

Ryan Tannehill was 25-35 on the day for 235 yards to go along with no touchdowns and an interception. Despite the lack of a TD, Tannehill did a great job of maneuvering his team down the field in their final drive of the game. This marked the first time all season that the quarterback did not record at least one touchdown.

Lamar Miller picked up 56 yards on the ground while carrying the ball 13 times. Miller ran the ball into the end zone for the lone Miami TD on Monday. The score was Miller's sixth touchdown of the season.

Mike Wallace led the Miami receivers in yards on the day with his 69 and it was only one yard more than Jarvis Landry had. All together, Miami had 235 yards via the air in addition to its 75 on the ground.

The Dolphins will take on the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday back home at Sun Life Stadium.
