LeBron James Blasts Reggie Evans After Nets Blowout

After Reggie Evans said Heat's 2012 title "doesn't prove nothing," James "let my game do the talking"

After winning their first championship since LeBron James and Chris Bosh joined Dwyane Wade in Miami, it seemed the Heat had finally silenced their many critics. But New Jersey Nets forward Reggie Evans remains unimpressed.

Before the Nets hosted the Heat on Wednesday, Evans said about the Heat's 2012 NBA championship, "It doesn't prove nothing. That was a lockout season."

Evans also had some harsh words for James himself. "LeBron is no different from Joe Johnson or Andray Blatche," Evans said. "No different."

Blatche, a backup power forward, is averaging 10.7 points and 5.6 rebounds a game.

When James was told of the comments, he asked reporters assembled around him, "Who said it?" When told it was Evans, he simply replied, "Right. Exactly."

Evans' words seemed all the more foolish after Wednesday's game, when the Heat won 105-85 behind James' 24 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Evans scored no points, but did grab 6 rebounds.

"You can't just come out and say something like that versus a champion," James told ESPN after the game. "No one knows what it takes unless you've done it. You can't sit here and judge and talk about a team winning a championship unless you've done it. (Evans) hasn't done it."

James also said, "I let my game do the talking. I'm not going to sit here and give Reggie Evans a lot of press," but only after pointing out Evans' stat line. "Let me look at his numbers real quick – he had no offensive rebounds, so we did our number on him."

The Heat have certainly looked beatable at times this season, especially on the road (where Miami is just 11-10). But Wednesday night served as a strong reminder to the rest of the NBA: doubt the champs at your own peril.
