Fort Lauderdale track star Sanya Richards-Ross will make her run for Olympic gold in the women’s 400 meters final Sunday, after she easily won her semifinal heat Saturday night.
Richards-Ross set a blistering pace Saturday before coasting at the end.
On Sunday at 4:10 p.m, she’ll try to win the gold medal she failed to win at the 2008 Bejiing Olympic Summer Games, when she faltered and took home the bronze in the 400.

Also on the track, Orlando resident Justin Gatlin competes in the men’s 100 meters semifinals. He raced to a preliminary round win in 9.97 seconds Saturday.
Back on the women’s side, Miami resident T'erea Brown is set to compete in the first round of the 400-meter hurdles at 2 p.m.
The USA women’s basketball team tips off at 11:45 a.m. against China. Liberty City’s Sylvia Fowles has missed the last three games with a sore left foot, but the team hopes to have the center back on Sunday.
On the volleyball court, Foluke Akinradewo of Plantation and the women’s volleyball team plays Turkey at 3 p.m. They beat Serbia in their last match.
