Marlins Fall to Mets Again

For the fourth time this spring, the Marlins dropped a game to the Mets on Monday

The Miami Marlins dropped another game to the New York Mets with their 6-4 loss on Monday.

Miami is now 0-4 in four games between the teams this spring, and is 4-9 overall in the Grapefruit League. The Marlins have only won once in the past week, and have struggled to get their pitching in order.

Severino Gonzalez started the game for the Marlins, and allowed three runs on four hits in his four innings of work. Gonzalez struck out a pair, and the runs came on three solo home runs. The 24-year old will likely head to AAA New Orleans to begin the season.

Kyle Lobstein was the next man on the mound for Miami, and he also ran into trouble with the home run ball. Lobstein allowed two runs on three hits in two innings of work. New York took Lobstein deep once and the pitcher also surrendered a hit to Tim Tebow. The knock was the first of the spring for the former Florida quarterback.

There were a couple of positive moments for Miami in the loss, but they came on offense. Justin Bour hit his second home run of the spring as part of a 1-3 day with two runs batted in. Bour is hitting .207 in the spring, and he figures to bat behind Giancarlo Stanton during the season.

Miami also had three doubles in the loss with two coming from Marcell Ozuna, and the other courtesy of Derek Dietrich. Ozuna entered the contest with no two-base hits, while Dietrich doubled his spring total.

The Detroit Tigers will visit Jupiter on Tuesday at 1:05 p.m.
