Marlins Finally Score in Win Over Phillies

After 24 scoreless innings in a row, Miami found the plate and beat the Phillies 5-0 on Tuesday

The Miami Marlins finally put runs on the board to beat the Philadelphia Phillies 5-0 on Tuesday.

Miami had gone 24 innings without a run, which included two full games. The Marlins were within striking distance in both of the games, but could not find a timely hit. Miami found that timely hit in this one when Giancarlo Stanton brought home a run in the sixth inning.

Stanton ended up 2-4 in the win and knocked in Miami's second run in the eighth inning. That run would score on a double from Stanton which was his 15th of the season.

Martin Prado had one of the three other doubles in the game for the Marlins. The third baseman now has 22 three-base hits this season. Jeff Mathis would add his third double of the season in the game as well.

In the eighth inning, Adeiny Hechavarria brought home a pair of runs on a single. Miguel Rojas would then plate another run on his eighth double of the season.

Ichiro Suzuki started the game and went 1-5 to move him to only three hits shy of 3,000 in his career.

Tom Koehler was cruising in his six innings of work before he was lifted despite a low pitch count. Koehler ended up allowing a walk and three hits while striking out five. The right-hander now has a 4.18 E.R.A to go along with an 8-8 record on the year.

Adam Conley will start the series finale on Thursday as Miami looks to take the series.
