Marlins' Giancarlo Stanton Graces Cover of Ocean Drive Magazine

Marlins All-Star Giancarlo Stanton has found himself on the cover of another magazine

Giancarlo Stanton has added another another achievement to his résumé by being featured on the cover of the April edition of Ocean Drive Magazine.

Earlier this year, Stanton found himself on the cover of both Sports Illustrated in body paint and ESPN's MLB Preview Issue. The national spotlight followed on a television appearance at the Miss Universe pageant as well. All of this attention came after Stanton signed a record 13-year, $325 million contract with Miami.

In the Ocean Drive story, Stanton opens up on a myriad of subjects. The piece allows Marlins fans to learn a lot more about the slugger than they may have previously known. Among the subjects, Stanton discusses his life both on and off the field.

When you have the single-biggest contract in North American sports history, there can be an expectation of leadership. That role becomes even more necessary on a young team with several new pieces. Stanton understands that and appears ready to lead.

“Guys are going to struggle at times and need a little guidance. That’s what I’m here for," Stanton told the magazine.

Another thing that comes with that amount of money are questions on just how a person plans to spend that new income. Stanton has a plan in mind for at least some of his newfound wealth.

“I’m working on my parents’ houses first,” he says. “I don’t need to necessarily gift myself right away. I’ll be fine," Stanton said.

Stanton and his Marlins teammates will begin the 2015 season on April 6th with an eye on being a contender from start to finish.
