Marlins' Gordon and Stanton Positioned for All-Star Game Starts

Dee Gordon and Giancarlo Stanton would start in the 2015 All-Star Game if voting ended today

The Miami Marlins received some rare good news on Wednesday when early balloting results were promising for Dee Gordon and Giancarlo Stanton.

In a season that has seen the Marlins lose 30 of their first 48 games, not much has gone their way. Having multiple All-Stars while sitting firmly in last place is not easy, but fans may make that happen for Miami.

Gordon who leads all of baseball in hitting with his .376 average received 934,249 votes, which also led all National League second baseman. There is still plenty of time for votes to come in, but Gordon's consistent production and early lead makes his nod possible. It is also likely that the fan-favorite is receiving a helping hand from some fans in Los Angeles.

Stanton has not had the best of seasons, but he still remains a powerful force in Miami's lineup. Stanton's 13 home runs and 42 runs batted in put him near the top of the leader-board in the NL. The outfielder currently sits in third place with 746,926 votes. He also captured national attention last year with his prolific display in the Home Run Derby. It is unknown if Stanton will participate in the contest again this year.

Miami has struggled to get and maintain leads all season long, but there's still plenty of time to turn the year around. If the team can string together some wins and move closer to .500, it is possible that more Marlins could find their way to the All-Star Game.

Adeiny Hechavarria is one candidate that could end up a reserve in the Midsummer Classic. The shortstop has enjoyed a good year with his bat as well as his glove. While he isn't an household name, Hechavarria is known in the game and could be someone that lands on the bench for the NL.

Voting for the All-Star Game will conclude on July 2nd.
