Ronny Paulino hit his eighth home run of the season and drove in three runs, but it was not enough to surpass the Padres Saturday night.

The Marlins’ playoff hopes are fading fast as they lost their seventh in ten games Saturday night against the San Diego Padres.

It was the second loss in a row against the last-place Padres, pushing the Marlins down to fourth place in the National League wildcard race.

It was the Marlins bullpen which faltered Saturday night, allowing Tony Gynn Jr. to break an eighth-inning tie with a two-run triple.

The final score was 7-4.
