Marlins To Travel in Style With Private Plane

The Marlins will have a private plane which will bear their logo this season

The Miami Marlins will have a whole new experience on flights this year as they enjoy a team-branded private plane.

In recent seasons, the Marlins have chartered commercial planes for their flights. While it gave the players a private experience, it was not as luxurious as the new plan. The planes previously used were the same ones flown by millions of people daily. There were far more seats available than any baseball team would ever need.

Along with cramped space, there were simply no perks or ability to give the players a first-class experience. The travel was much better than the bus trips that players become accustomed to in the minor-leagues, but it was still missing some luxury.

The 2015 Marlins will find themselves with a wealth of luxury on-board their flights. The leased Boeing 767-200 will even have the Marlins logo on it. It will also be retrofitted to meet the team's needs. There will be less seats meaning more space for players that are not lacking in size. Players such as Giancarlo Stanton should welcome the extra space to stretch out and relax.

"You've got Stanton curled up in a ball trying to sleep. He's a big dude -- he needs to be able to stretch his legs out," closer Steve Cishek said.

The travel aspect of the game is often overlooked. Money is invested into the on-field product, but the comfort of the players can be equally as important. The Marlins realize this and they want to get the most out of a roster they have spent hundreds of millions of dollars on this off-season.

"We want to give our players every opportunity to perform at the highest level they can," president of baseball operations Michael Hill said.

The Marlins are inching close to the start of the regular season. Thus far in the spring, Miami has a 8-3 record.
