Miami, Alabama Negotiating 2021 Game in Atlanta: Report

Fans of the Miami Hurricanes may get a chance to see their favorite team seek revenge against another powerhouse program that cost them a national title in the 1990’s.

A report in the Tuscaloosa News says the ‘Canes are in negotiations with the Alabama Crimson Tide for a game in 2021 that would be played in Atlanta to open the season.

Miami and Alabama last met in the Sugar Bowl following the 1992 season, in which the top ranked Hurricanes were upset by the second ranked Crimson Tide 34-13, denying Miami another crown.

The Hurricanes, who will open the 2017 season on September 2nd against Bethune Cookman, have scheduled games to open the 2018 season against LSU (in Arlington, Texas) and in 2019 against in-state rival Florida – a game that will be played inside Camping World Stadium in Orlando.

Alabama is scheduled to open this season in Atlanta as well, as the top ranked Crimson Tide will face third ranked Florida State.
