Canes' Thomas Finnie on 1st Career INT

"We feed off each other, offense and defense," defensive back Thomas Finnie told reporters Tuesday. Asked if the Hurricanes can play the spoiler Saturday, he responded that they go into every game expecting to win – and it will be the same with Notre Dame. "We know they're a good opponent, and we just got to lock in, and focus in, and have a good week of practice, and let that carry on into the game," said the sophomore, who attended Miami Central High School. Finnie talked about the interception he made late in the game against North Carolina State which led to the Hurricanes' game-winning drive. "The ball seemed like it was in the air forever," he said of the first interception of his career.

Wide Receiver Phillip Dorsett on UM-Notre Dame

Wide receiver Phillip Dorsett said he watched the UM-Notre Dame games growing up and says everyone is excited to bring the "big tradition" back. "We just got to go out there and treat this like another ACC opponent, even though they're not, but we just got to go out there and try to win," he said Tuesday. Dorsett, a sophomore from Fort Lauderdale, said it would be a big win if the Hurricanes beat ninth-ranked Notre Dame, and talked about how he and quarterback Stephen Morris are starting to click. Dorsett said he's not worried about playing in cold weather. "We're tough enough to tough it out. I mean, we could care less about the weather."

"It's a big game. It's going to be a lot of fun for us. Definitely a great rivalry," defensive back A.J. Highsmith told reporters Tuesday. He said it will be the first game his dad Alonzo – who played for the Hurricanes from 1983-1986 – will see him play as a starter. Notre Dame's offense is very good and will give Miami problems, the redshirt junior said.
