Nationals Rally in Eighth to Beat Marlins

The Nationals scored four runs in the eighth inning on Monday to beat the Marlins

The Miami Marlins had a late lead vanish in a 6-4 loss to the Washington Nationals on Monday at Nationals Park.

Miami held a two-run advantage going to the bottom of the eighth inning. That's when Bryan Morris ran into trouble and the Nationals plated four runs. A two-run lead for Miami quickly turned into a two-run deficit. The loss was Miami's second in a row after a four-game winning streak.

David Phelps had a quality start going 6.1 innings in which he allowed two runs on six hits and three walks. Phelps struck out four and had a no-decision in the box score. On the year, the right-hander has a solid 3.24 E.R.A

Morris was tagged with the loss after allowing all four runs to Washington in the aforementioned eighth frame. It was a rare poor outing for Morris who has been one of the more dependable relievers for Miami dating back to last season.

Justin Bour started at first base in place of the slumping Michael Morse. The young lefty continued to do the most with his opportunities as he slugged a solo home run. It was the first blast of the year for Bour who has his average at .583.

The homer for Bour was Miami's lone extra-base hit. Ichiro Suzuki and Adeiny Hechavarria had two-hit games while Giancarlo Stanton was 0-4 in the loss.

Mat Latos will get the ball for Miami on Tuesday as his team tries to get back into the win column.
