Panthers Beat Predators on Jaromir Jagr Night

On a night they honored Jaromir Jagr, the Panthers beat the Predators 2-1

The Florida Panthers honored Jaromir Jagr and then went on to beat the Nashville Predators 2-1 on Friday.

It was Jaromir Jagr Night at BB&T Center, as the Panthers recognized the veteran for his recent historic achievement. In December, Jagr moved into second place on the NHL's All-Time points list. The 44-year old has been a leader for Florida and one of the team's most productive players since joining the team in 2015.

Prior to the game, the Panthers held a moment of silence as a tribute to the victims of the tragic shooting at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport earlier in the day. Mike Matheson and Mark Pysyk both had the initials of the airport on their skates as well.

Gregg McKegg wasted little time in giving Florida a 1-0 lead with his goal at the 2:24 mark of the first period. Assisting on the goal were Derek MacKenzie and Paul Thompson.

Nashville would tie the game during the third period, before Florida went back ahead for good. The go-ahead goal came courtesy of Jonathan Marchessault with assists from both Jagr and Vincent Trocheck.

James Reimer was in net for Florida with Roberto Luongo unavailable. The goalie ended up with 26 saves on the 27 opportunities that he had in the win.

The homestand will wrap up on Saturday when the Panthers host the Boston Bruins at 7:00 p.m.
