Panthers' McGinn Out Indefinitely Following Back Surgery

Panthers forward Jamie McGinn will be out of the lineup indefinitely due to surgery on his back

Florida Panthers forward Jamie McGinn will be out of action indefinitely following back surgery.

Florida made the announcement on Friday and did not provide any sort of timetable for McGinn's recovery. With the preseason beginning on Monday, it is likely that McGinn's recovery time will include part of the regular season.

McGinn joined Florida for the 2017-18 season and appeared in 76 games. Prior to his time with the Panthers, McGinn played in Arizona, Anaheim, Buffalo, Colorado and San Jose. The 30-year old has played in 598 NHL games overall.

McGinn contributed 29 points last season and was expected to post similar numbers in 2018-19. McGinn would have likely seen a decent amount of ice-time in training camp, as well as in the preseason.

Florida's preseason schedule will begin on Monday with a pair of games against the Nashville Predators. The two teams will split their squads to get as many players involved as possible. The Panthers will play in five more preseason games ahead of the season opener on October 6th.
