Ramos Picks Up Save As Marlins Win Finale in LA

A.J. Ramos took over as Miami's closer on Wednesday and slammed the door

The Miami Marlins gave the ball to A.J. Ramos in the ninth inning and he preserved a 5-4 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday.

Due to Steve Cishek's recent issues, Miami has elected to go with a bullpen by committee. Ramos was given the first save opportunity and after his 1-2-3 inning, he may see the next one as well. The electrifying reliever struck out two and then induced a game-ending fly-out.

The save was the first of Ramos' career and comes after a very successful run as Miami's primary setup man. While Cishek could ultimately regain his job, it may be an uphill battle if Ramos continues to succeed in the role.

The Marlins had lost the first two games of the series to the Dodgers and three games in a row overall. This win ended the road trip on a good note, but it was still a disappointing week for Miami. As they head home, the Marlins have several recent late losses to contemplate.

Dee Gordon remained Miami's main story on offense with a four-hit day. It was the second such game for MLB's top hitter. Gordon now is hitting .426 on the season and has ten doubles after collecting a pair in the win.

As part of big seventh inning where the Marlins posted three runs, Giancarlo Stanton singled home two runs. In all, the slugger had three runs batted in and had his tally up to 33 on the year.

Jarred Cosart struggled in 5.1 innings before exiting due to a hamstring injury. The right-hander allowed four runs on five hits and is considered day-to-day. It is unknown if Cosart will be able to make his next start.

Miami will take Thursday off before opening a series on Friday against the Atlanta Braves at Marlins Park.
