It's been a while since Patrick Surtain had to face off with a wide receiver on the football field. Maybe he was getting the itch again.
The former Miami Dolphins Pro Bowl cornerback plans to file a lawsuit against current Dolphins superstar wide out Brandon Marshall over a house that Surtain claims Marshall stole from under his nose, the Sun-Sentinel is reporting.
The 17,000-square-foot home in question is located in Southwest Ranches and Marshall purchased the property after signing his $50 million free agent deal to come play in Miami.
Surtain, who played for the Dolphins from 1998 to 2004, claims he already had an agreement in place to buy the house, but the builder pulled out in order to get Marshall's dough.
Surtain said he asked Marshall to back down earlier this year while he tried to square things away with the developer, and the receiver allegedly agreed.
In 2007, the Surtains agreed to pay $5.2 million for Landmark Custom Ranches to build their dream home, but were having trouble with the financing. Lenders weren't willing to pony up that kind of cash because the house was appraised at $1.8 million less than the price.
A court battle began, but as the lawyers tried to work things out, Marshall swooped in like he does on a pass in the air and snatched Surtain's dream house off the market. he closed on the home for $4.15 million last month.

Marshall has not responded to the allegations yet, but a court battle is as probable as the Dolphins settling for a field goal in the red zone this season.
