Video in Arrest of Miami Dolphins' Derrick Shelby Released

Fort Lauderdale Police released surveillance video Tuesday from the arrest of Miami Dolphins defensive end Derrick Shelby at a club over the weekend.

Shelby, 25, is charged with resisting arrest and trespassing after he was arrested around 2 a.m. Saturday outside the club CYN, police said.

According to a police arrest report, Shelby had been removed from the club by security after a "disturbance" but was blocking the exit when an officer arrived.

Shelby refused to leave and "took an aggressive fighting stance," the report said. He was taken into custody after a struggle during which he was shot with a stun gun three times, the report said.

The video released Tuesday shows Shelby and officers talking outside the club. The physical arrest including the stun gun use wasn't caught on camera.

The Dolphins on Monday suspended Shelby indefinitely for conduct detrimental to the team. Shelby's attorney said he is innocent and plans to plead not guilty.

An undrafted pickup for the Dolphins in 2012, Shelby has appeared in all four of Miami's games this season, recording six tackles, two sacks and recovering a fumble. The Dolphins had a bye Sunday and weren't in action.
