Wade Puts More Focus on Three-Point Line

Dwyane Wade has not attempted many three-point shots in recent seasons but that could now change

Dwyane Wade is not known for his three-point prowess but the Miami Heat star would like to step behind the line more, according to Bleacher Report

Wade attempted a career low 32 threes in 2013-14 which continued a track that his career had been on. Prior to the 2013 campaign, Wade attempted 56 and 66 three-point shots in the previous two seasons respectively.

Even when Wade has tried from deep, he has not had much success. It would take going back to 2010-11 to find the last time that Wade shot at least 30 percent on three-pointers. That was the first season of the four-year run with LeBron James that came to an end after last season. Before that season, his best efficiency behind the line came during 2008-09 when Wade shot 32 percent on his three-point tries.

One positive sign for Wade on three-point attempts came during the team's most recent playoff run. In the 2013-14 playoffs, Wade was 9-24 on threes which was his best post-season ratio since 2009-10.

The Heat have struggled this pre-season on three-point attempts as a team through three games. With Chris Bosh slated to play more of an inside game and Josh McRoberts unavailable, the Heat have yet to find a go-to guy for threes. Shabazz Napier hit a pair of three-pointers in the most recent exhibition game but also missed six. Napier is not expected to see many minutes at least in the early going.

Keeping Wade on the court every day this season is a goal for Miami. It is unlikely that the 32-year-old suddenly becomes a master from three-point range but any extra production from Wade on treys could end up pivotal for the Heat.

Miami will continue its preseason schedule on Tuesday evening against the Atlanta Hawks.
