Week 12 Preview: Dolphins at Jets

The Dolphins will try to avoid a sweep by the Jets on Sunday at MetLife Stadium

The Miami Dolphins will be in dire need of a win when they take on the New York Jets on Sunday at MetLife Stadium.

With a 4-6 record, Miami needs to likely run the table for any chance at a playoff spot. Winning the final six games will be a difficult task and it begins with this tough match up against the Jets. Even though the Jets are only one game better than the Dolphins, they easily beat Miami earlier this season in London.

A loss on Sunday would mean the rival Jets come away with a season sweep for the first time since 2007. That marked two straight years that New York swept Miami as part of five straight wins for the Jets over the Dolphins. The teams have since split every series between one another the last five years.

Ryan Tannehill is having a very inconsistent season and is on pace to regress for the first time in his career. After posting improved quarterback ratings in his first three seasons in the NFL, Tannehill now has a QB rating in 2015 that is lower than his 2014 number. One of his worst games this year came against these same Jets when Tannehill had a paltry rating of 53.0.

Quarterbacks will be in focus for both teams as Ryan Fitzpatrick tries to right the ship for the Jets. After starting the season looking like a true contender, the Jets have stumbled to the tune of four losses in five games. Fitzpatrick has drawn the ire of fans and media in New York, and has taken a great deal of the blame for the slide. Another loss in this one could cost Fitzpatrick his job.

Working in Miami's favor will be the likely absence of Darrelle Revis. The cornerback is not expected to play in this one due to a concussion. While Revis has not been officially announced as out, he has sat out multiple practices this week. Without Revis in the game, Miami's offense could find some extra holes.

Sunday's game will get underway at 1 p.m.
