Week Ten Preview: Dolphins at Eagles

The Miami Dolphins have lost two games in a row and will look to change that when they take on the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.

Miami has lost two games in a row by wide margins after winning two games easily to begin Dan Campbell's head coaching career. In the last two games, Miami has been outscored 69-24 and has looked lost at times on both sides of the ball.

Philadelphia and Miami do not meet often and the last game between these two teams came back in 2011. At the time, Tony Sparano was still leading the Dolphins and was in fact fired on the day following the contest. Miami lost that December game to Philly by a final score of 26-10.

The Eagles represent a challenge for the Dolphins and it will not be an easy game for Miami to win. At 4-4, Philadelphia is a contender for the division title in the NFC East. Miami on the other hand sits in the basement of the AFC East at 3-5.

Making the playoffs after starting the season 3-5 is a rare and difficult task. The Dolphins could go a long way to making it possible with a win over Philly. In the official start to the second half of the season, Miami will have the chance to turn its season around and has very little room for error.

After beginning the year as one of the most hyped defenses in recent history, Miami's defenders have failed to live up to expectations. The Dolphins are ranked 31st in the NFL in defense and have allowed an abysmal 142 rushing yards per game. While this is not all Ndamukong Suh's fault, the big free-agent signing has not done much. Suh has only three sacks and two of those came in one game.

As has been the case for most of his career, quarterback Ryan Tannehill has struggled to find consistency. While the QB has had a few great performances this year, he's also mixed in a few mediocre performances. Tannehill has thrown 13 touchdowns, but has also been picked off nine times. Coupled with a lackluster defense, this has crippled Miami's ability to stay in games.
