Yelich Knocks in Winning Run in Tenth, Marlins Top Phillies 2-1

Christian Yelich's RBI single in the tenth inning gave Miami a 2-1 win over Philadelphia

Christian Yelich brought home the winning run for his Miami Marlins in their 2-1 win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday.

It was a good game for Yelich who was responsible for both of Miami's runs. The single in the tenth scored Adeiny Hechavarria. After leading off the inning with a double, Hechavarria was still standing at second with two outs when Yelich came to the plate. The double for Hechavarria was his 12th of the season.

Yelich also homered in the fourth inning to put Miami ahead 1-0 at the time. It was the eighth home run of the season for Yelich, who now also has 51 runs batted in this year.

Outside of Yelich's two hits, Miami had a relatively quiet game. J.T. Realmuto had two hits and a walk, but also struck out twice. Realmuto left two men on base, while the team left a total of eight on during the game.

Giancarlo Stanton went 0-5 while Marcell Ozuna was 1-3. Outside of Yelich, the Marlins had trouble finding any production from the middle of their lineup in the win.

Jose Urena made his first start of the season and did a solid job. Urena had been demoted to the minor leagues after some dismal innings of relief. In this one, Urena allowed only one run in his 5.2 innings of work. The right-hander allowed four hits and a walk while striking out five.

Wei-Yin Chen will make the start for Miami in the third game of the series on Wednesday.
