Dolphins Practice Without Moore or Long

Miami could start JP Losman at quarterback on Sunday against Buffalo

Todd Bowles took the reigns of his first Miami Dolphins practice as interim head coach without starting quarterback Matt Moore on the sideline in sweatpants.

Having left Sunday's loss to Philadelphia with a head and neck injury, his status for this week's game at Buffalo is uncertain.

Moore left in the second half against Philadelphia after being hit from behind while attempting a pass. Then-coach Tony Sparano said Monday morning Moore experienced "concussive-like" symptoms, which require further evaluation.

"He's taking tests right now, and when he gets back in the training room and gets back to me, we'll evaluate that later," Bowles said Wednesday.

Backup quarterbacks JP Losman and Pat Devlin took snaps at quarterback with Moore sidelined. Though the Dolphins could simply be playing it safe with Moore, Losman would likely start in Moore's place if needed.

For his part, Losman probably would not mind a chance to start against the team that drafted him in the first round of the 2004 NFL Draft. "I always knew it was a possibility that I would get a chance to play Buffalo] once I signed here," he said after practice.

Since stepping in for an injured Chad Henne in Week 4, Moore has thrown for 1864 yards, 10 touchdowns and 6 interceptions, while completing 61.6% of his passes. His 9 starts this season are the most of any in his 5-year career.

The Dolphins also missed LT Jake Long and LB Koa Misi on Wednesday. Long left in the first-quarter of the Eagles game with a back injury. It is unknown whether he will be available for the Buffalo game. Koa Misi sat out with a shoulder injury.
