Jason Taylor Gets His Own Day

Jan. 24 will be "Jason Taylor Day"

Recently retired Miami Dolphins defensive end and linebacker Jason Taylor is being honored with a day of his own.

Miami-Dade County officials will proclaim Tuesday that Jan. 24 will be declared "Jason Taylor Day." 

Jason Taylor made history as defensive end player and was named Miami Dolphins All-Pro and NFL Man of the Year in 2007.

Taylor sported a Dolphins jersey for 13 seasons over his 15-year career,  collected more sacks than any other Dolphin player in history, and is currently holding the NFL record for career fumble-return touchdowns.

He is also known for giving back to his community in South Florida. 

Created in 2004, The Jason Taylor Foundation helps facilitate the personal growth of underprivileged kids in South Florida.

According the the website, The Jason Taylor Foundation has contributed more than "$2,000,000 in programs and services to more than 40 different organizations dedicated to helping children."  

The foundation features 12 different programs to help children.

Through these programs, deserving kids have been awarded college scholarships, received shopping sprees, learned basic reading skills to fight illiteracy, and even played on the field with Taylor himself at his football camp.
