Starbucks sent a message to its 1.7 million Twitter followers Tuesday, warning them that a gift card offer on Facebook was not to be trusted.
"Beware - there is a scam on Facebook offering a free $50 Starbucks card," the company posted. "Don't click on it, it isn't real."
The gift card offer was shared across Facebook Tuesday claiming that if you click the share button, and say thanks in the comment area, you'll get a $50 gift card.
As of noon Tuesday, more than 600 Facebook followers had fallen for it. If you're one of those who clicked share, you may have opened yourself up to identity thieves or spam according to Sophos, a company that offers advice for Facebook users when it comes to scams and "rogue apps."
This is just the latest in a string of Facebook scams including one targeting Pizza Hut in which the link offered a voucher to eat for free at the pizza chain.
