A Clermont couple was arrested after police said they and their two children attempted to shoplift from an Orlando department store.

Trimesh Persaud, 41, and Shamdai Persaud, 39, were arrested Saturday on one count of retail theft of more than $300, according to online arrest records.

Priest Leaves Church After Shoplifting Arrest

A Macy’s loss prevention employee at The Mall at Millenia saw the family hiding the merchandise in a shopping cart to avoid paying, according to an Orlando Police report. Security said the family concealed $605 worth of items, the Orlando Sentinel reported.

Their children, who are 11 and 12 years old, were released to a relative.
