Deep-Fried Gun Fires Inside Las Vegas Restaurant

A gunshot rang out after a firearm was thrown into a deep fryer at a Las Vegas restaurant

Here is another reminder that deep-fried anything is a health hazard.

A gun went off after being thrown into a deep fryer at a Las Vegas restaurant on Sunday, Nov. 25.

"It was discovered the gunshot was a result of a firearm being tossed into a deep fryer and exploding," according to a police report obtained by the Las Vegas Review-Journal. No one was hurt.

Obdulio Gudiel, 44, was arrested for attempted robbery with the use of a weapon in connection with the incident at El Diamante Restaurant. It is, however, still unclear who put the gun in the deep fryer.

Police said Gudiel told them that he was trying to collect payment for three cars he sold to his nephew, Victor Larios. Larios and another man, Robert Casprowitz, went to the restaurant on Sunday night. Gudiel approached them with a gun on their way out of the restaurant and asked for payment, Casprowitz told police.

Casprowitz called the police after the encounter and the gun went off while police were evacuating the restaurant.

A restaurant worker told police that a man had asked her to hold his gun for him when police showed up, but she refused.

It's not clear who tried to give her the gun.
