Florida Man Repeatedly Called 911 Saying He Needed a Ride to Mexico: Authorities

Alvaro Francisco faces a charge of misuse of 911 or the emergency 911 system: Collier County Sheriff's Office

A 26-year-old Florida man was arrested after he called 911 multiple times saying that he needed a ride to Mexico, the Collier County Sheriff’s Office said.

Collier County’s dispatch said that it received the calls from Alvaro Francisco of Immokalee, who said that “he needed a ride to Mexico, to a friend’s house or to his boss’s house,” the sheriff’s office said in an arrest report.

He called about 10 times in all, according to the report.

Francisco, who was born in Mexico City, was told that his request wasn’t an emergency, and warned that he would be arrested if he kept calling 911 without having an emergency, the report said.

But “Alvaro again called dispatch on the 911 emergency line with the same request as before,” and that’s when an officer went to arrest him early Saturday, the report said.

Francisco appeared to be slightly intoxicated, with somewhat slurred speech and a slight odor of alcohol coming from him, the officer said.

Francisco faces a charge of misuse of 911 or the emergency 911 system, the sheriff’s office said.

He was being held on $2,000 bond for the misdemeanor Monday night, online jail records said. It was not immediately known whether Francisco has an attorney.
