A 20-year-old Gainesville man faces multiple charges after he tore open a bag of cocaine with his teeth and ate it in front of officers.

Police say the man was a passenger of a vehicle that was parked in front of a convenience store for several hours on Wednesday night.

When police approached the vehicle, they spotted the man with his hand under the front passenger seat, and then behind his back. They asked him to show his hands and unlock the vehicle, but he ignored their requests.

Police say the man then pulled the bag out and ripped it open and ate the contents, which later tested positive for cocaine.

The Gainesville Sun reports the man is charged with destroying evidence, possession of cocaine and resisting an officer.
