Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the Dunedin Country Club Golf Course after reports of gunfire.

Fitzgerald, who was found driving a car off a golf cart access road, had a high-powered .308 caliber rifle and a .45 caliber handgun in the car, the sheriff's office said. He told deputies he was looking for his lost dog and had the guns in case he ran into any coyotes, according to authorities.
