A man arrested after crack cocaine was found in his pocket claimed the pants he was wearing did not belong to him, authorities said.
Johnny Mccoy, 56, told the deputy that the pants had been stolen from a church, according to an arrest report obtained by TC Palm.
“As I began to search his pockets, he stated quickly that the pants he was wearing were not his,” the arrest report said. “He claimed he stole them from a church.”
After using a drug test kit, the deputy arrested Mccoy, and he was taken to the Indian River County Jail, according to the report.
Mccoy was initially stopped on April 1 while riding his bicycle in Vero Beach for not having visible lights.
After he was stopped, the deputy asked to search him and found a smoked marijuana cigarette and a small clear plastic baggie with the cocaine, according to the report.
It wasn’t immediately known if he had an attorney.
