Man Cuts Wife's Neck Repeatedly with Bread Knife: Police

A man was arrested after he cut his wife’s neck with bread knife multiple times, Hallandale Police said Monday.

After Howard Skibinsky and his wife of 17 years had an argument on Saturday about his finances, and she locked herself in a room to avoid fighting, authorities said. But Skibinsky unlocked the door with a letter opener and pushed her against a closet in their bathroom, the arrest report said.

He pulled out the knife from his pocket and cut her several times, authorities said. She was able to escape to their bedroom, where he jumped on top of her and strangled her for about 8 to 10 seconds, the report said.

She was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital and told police that she was certain her husband wanted to kill her, the report said.

Skibinsky is being held without bond at the Broward County Jail. He faces a charge of attempted premeditated murder. It wasn’t immediately known if he had an attorney.
