Man Strangled Mom's Puppy and Then Cooked It: Cops

Thomas Elliot Huggins, 25, was arrested on Thursday and faces a charge of animal cruelty.

A Tampa man was arrested for strangling his mother's puppy, cutting it up and then cooking it, police said Friday.

Thomas Elliot Huggins, 25, was arrested on Thursday and faces a charge of animal cruelty and was being held in jail on $2,000 bond.

On Thursday morning, he strangled the 5 to 6-month-old puppy, killing him, police said. Huggins then cut up the dog into quarters and put it in the freezer for future meals, Tampa Police said.

Later that night, a family member called police, and when authorities arrived they found the dog's ribs being cooked on the stove, and its head in the garbage, police said.

Huggins was taken into custody for the inhumane and cruel killing of the dog, and Animal Control took the dog's remains.

Huggins didn't think there was anything wrong with how he killed the animal and cooked it, police said.
