My Hero? Cop Plots to Kidnap Wife, Rescue Her

A Florida deputy has been fired for an intricate plot to keep his wife

We're all for doing whatever it takes to save a marriage, but kidnapping your wife and then attempting a fake rescue is way out of left field.

A Florida sheriff's deputy decided the best way to get back in his wife's good graces was to show her that he could be a real hero for love. Now he is out of a job and could be headed to jail.

Brandon Roysden, who worked for the Collier County Sheriff's Department, was fired last month after admitting to organizing the weird plot to stop his wife from going through with a divorce, reports NaplesNews.com.

Last year, Roysden enlisted the help of a few juvenile delinquents he had come in contact with on the beat and told them he had a job that was right up their alley.

The two teenagers and some friends were supposed to kidnap Michelle Roysden and her family, then get the woman to lure her husband to the scene. Once Roysden showed up to negotiate a ransom, the group of kidnappers would beat Roysden up in front of his stunned wife and tie him up.

But the ropes were to be loosely tied so that Roysden could break free like some kind of super hero and save the day. We're not sure if Roysden would have some super hero catch phrase or costume to change into, but the way this plot was unfolding, we wouldn't doubt it.

No one would be killed in the rescue effort, the teenagers were assured by Roysden, a deputy for five years.

One of the boy's mother, who also worked at the Sheriff's Office, caught wind of the plot and turned Roysden in before the phony kidnapping could take place.

Roysden told investigators that he just wanted to show his wife that he was a real hero.

Instead, Michelle Roysden just thinks he is a real jerk and has filed for divorce.

"Really, he should be prosecuted,” she said. “If it was anyone else, they would have already been in jail in my opinion.”
