Authorities were called to The Charter School of Boynton Beach Secondary School at 12:42 p.m.
Police believe they identified the girl who pricked the other students, all either 13 or 14 years old, with the glucometer, which is used by people with diabetes to test blood sugar. She will face 20 counts of battery and culpable negligence, police said. These are misdemeanor charges.
There were no major injuries, said police spokeswoman Stephanie Slater.

"Fire rescue officials were on scene as a precautionary measure and assisted school officials with calling parents to pick their children up from school. A few children asked to be taken to the hospital to be checked out," Slater said.
Officials recommended that parents take their children to a physician to see if they need follow-up care.
It wasn't immediately known if she had an attorney.
