Two people were arrested after they broke into a Tamarac home where an 11 and 13-year-old were home alone and stole several items, the Broward's Sheriff's Office said Thursday.
Jennifer Senatore and Kevin Skolnick face charges including unarmed burglary of an occupied dwelling and grand theft. They are both in jail, and it wasn't immediately known if they had attorneys.
On Aug. 16, they broke into the home through an unlocked back door, authorities said. Once inside, Senatore grabbed a purse, which had a cell phone and a laptop computer, deputies said. One of the children called 911 while hiding in the bathroom.
"They opened the back door and they broke a window," one of the children said on the 911 call.
Senatore and Skolnick took the items, valued at more than $1,000, and drove off, the Broward Sheriff's Office said. The children's father, who returned as his daughter was on the phone with 911, got the license plate number of the car from a neighbor.
Senatore was located four days later and arrested. Her car was confiscated as it was used during the robbery, authorities said. Marijuana was found in the car, they added.
Later, she told authorities that the pair went to the home with the intention of buying $5,000 worth of Oxycontin but when the drug deal didn't occur, she went back to the house to get her money back or steal something, the sheriff's office said.

But authorities said what was actually happened was Senatore gave Skolnick the money to buy the drugs. He came back with no drugs or money, saying he was robbed,deptuies said. So, the pair ended up at the residence presumably looking for the money, but the victims have no connection to either of the people arrested, the sheriff's office said.
