Woman Arrested for Leaving Baby in Car While She Was in a Bar: Police

Britney Jean Rohdy, left her baby unattended in the car with the window down, Ocala Police said.

An Ocala woman was arrested after leaving her 1-month-old baby in the car, while she spent some time at a local bar, authorities said.

Britney Jean Rohdy, 22, was arrested Monday after she spent at least 45 minutes at a bar, the Ocala Police said in a statement. Police were called after someone saw the baby left alone in the car, police said.

She was also found with Oxycodone without a prescription and faces charges including child neglect and possession of a schedule IV narcotic, police said.

Rohdy told police she has spent five minutes at the bar, but witnesses said they had seen her enter the bar at an earlier time, police said.

“She didn’t go outside until police went in and found her at approximately 1:17 a.m.,” the statement said.

“In addition, she had left the infant unattended in the vehicle with the window down and the child was sweating,” the statement said.

The baby was medically examined and was found with no injuries. The baby was then placed with a relative by the Department of Children and Families.

Rohdy was being held Tuesday at the Marion County Jail on a $10,000 bond. It wasn't immediately known if she had an attorney.
